Exercise boxing

Exercise boxing at Joe's Boxing Gym begins with a 15-minute warm-up, which typically consists of running, skipping or step bench exercises.

The training is a mix of bag training, interval, cardio, circuit and strength training. You're often paired up on the bag, where you take turns punching and holding. Here we also train coordination as we put together different punch combinations for you to memorise. The workout ends with 15 minutes of optional stretching.

Everyone can join in - regardless of fitness and level.

And don't worry: at Joe's we hit bags, not each other!

Technique

Technique classes at Joe's Boxing Gym Starts with a 15-minute warm-up, typically with running, skipping or step bench exercises. Then you alternate between wearing boxing gloves and spot gloves.

In the technique classes, the focus is more on the actual technique of striking and sparring. In particular, we train coordination by putting together different punching combinations. You need to be able to memorise the combinations both when you're hitting and when you're holding the gloves for your partner. It's challenging - but also fun!

The workout is rounded off with 15 minutes of optional stretching. Everyone can join our technique classes - regardless of fitness and level.

Body & Mind

In the Body & Mind class, we work on slowing down, lowering the heart rate and looking inwards. The class lasts one hour and we work with, among other things:

The nerve system:
We actively work to balance the nervous system with a special focus on the parasympathetic part - where we recover, digest and cleanse.

Breathing:
With breathing techniques, we oxygenate the cells, release tension and create calmness in both body and mind.

Connective tissue:
Inspired by Yin yoga, we do stretches that create flexibility and prevent and heal injuries.

Body awareness:
We practice grounding, body scans and guided mindfulness sessions to increase presence.

Intentional themes:
We work on setting different intentional themes for the lesson that support a more loving awareness of the life lived.

It's a good idea to bring layers of clothing so you can adjust the temperature as you go, as well as warm socks as it can get chilly in the gym. You may also want to bring a blanket for the more quiet and lying down exercises. If you prefer your own mat, you're welcome to bring it, but you can of course also use the mats we have at Joe's.
